Joe Frazier, Jr. never really ventured into the professional fight game like his famous father, Joe Frazier.
The younger Frazier runs Joe Frazier Promotions and a similarly named scholarship foundation. Frazier declined being gloved out with any opponent with a nasty left hook like his dad, Frazier, Jr. took an accurate shot to the heart and fell hard like a falling tree several years back. Down went Frazier!
“For me, it was love at first sight,” Frazier, Jr. confessed about the day he set eyes on Trenton native Mis Downing, whose sister, Sacred, succeeded as a top female boxer.
“We met at a Legacy event for the Joe Frazier Scholarship Fund. Ironically, COVID hit right after that and did not see each other for a while. Our interactions were only phone conversations and text messages. But it was like God’s divine fortitude to connect us there.”
Downing smiled throughout, especially when Frazier described those early days. “It was like I was in high school. We would talk on the phone so long, sometimes even fall asleep on the phone. I loved it,” Downing said.
Downing and Frazier said the physical distance helped to cultivate a spiritual connection. Both believe their respective fathers Joe and James, plus, Frazier’s sister Weatta Frazier Collins, who transitioned in January, work in the spiritual world to impact positive outcomes.Good times rolled after COVID subsided.
“We got the house. Got married. Had a baby. We’re a blessed and blended family,” Frazier explained. The couple embrace and love four children — Sage, Faith, Destiny, and Victory. Even those identifications deliver a life message.
“In life, all we need is sage wisdom and faith to connect with destiny where God gives you victory,” Frazier said.
Downing, one of a limited number of female boxing promoters, heads Mis Downing Promotions. She enjoys love and support from her husband.
They employ boxing as a vehicle that moves toward greater good dreams. The goal remains to help as many people as possible in the Trenton, Philadelphia and Delaware area.
The Frazier/Downing collaboration of boxing promotion and philanthropy promises to support children and families. Downing acknowledged her lifetime love for her hometown of Trenton.
They refrain from self-promotion, understanding that their good works will gain recognition and promotion from others.
“It’s all about helping others, supporting children and adults. Mis and I focus on transformation and making a real difference., doing all that we can to help as many people as we can.”
